Pin-up Girl

OK.
I admit it.  I like the internet.  Nope.  Scratch that.  I love it.

I love that the whole, wide world is at the tip of your fingers.  I love that I can research prices on upright freezers (which we are shopping for currently), discover my Love Language (Quality time and Words of Affirmation, if you are wondering), plan a yummy dinner (grilled stuffed cabbage, anyone?), and find a new knitting pattern without leaving my couch (or my bed, my desk, my car. . . .).  I love reading blogs, looking up new knitting patterns on my Ravelry account, and catching up on Facebook with friends old and new.  I actually care what you are having for dinner or when your kid lost their first tooth.  Call me nosy, call me interested, call me Crazy. . . whatever.  I love it.

So when a friend told me that she found a new site that I would love, my first thought was, “Uh oh, another time-sucker.  I have TWO kids now.  I don’t have time for this!”  But little did I know I would find my newest obsession.  And what a time-sucking obsession it is.

Have you heard of it?  Oh.  My.  Goodness.  It is a virtual pinboard of sorts, to organize all of the fabulous finds you come across on the internet.  However, it is not just ONE board.  Oh, no.  You can create as many boards as you wish, with all kinds of fun names to categorize your finds!  Here are a few of my boards:
  • ·         Gettin’ knitty with it—knitting ideas, duh
  • ·         Sugarland—sweets to make!
  • ·         Where I want to be—backyard/garden ideas
  • ·         Sew little time—sewing projects
  • ·         Crafty—the craft ideas are endless on here!

You simply apply for an account, wait for your invite to come, and start pinning!  You can pin from blogs, photostreams, shopping sites. . . You can repin from other members’ boards. . . the possibilities are endless.
On that note, I am sure there is a tutorial for magnetic paperdolls that I need to pin, or nutella cupcakes, or homemade freezie pops, or. . . . .

I’m off to pin!!!

Here I am, Baby. . .

As I sit here in the quiet of the morning, just me, my coffee and the clickety-clack of the computer keys, I am subtly reminded of why we do this thing called “life”.  My typing is accented by the soft, sweet snores of two little souls curled up on my left.  This is why we go on. . . and on. . . and on. . .

A few years ago, I started reading blogs--knitting blogs, mommy blogs, homesteading blogs, crafty blogs. . . You name it, I read it.  No big surprise--I am a voracious reader.  I can have up to 5 books at a time going and have a conversation with you about each of them, but that is for another post at another time.  Anyway. . . My husband, always intrigued by my words of wisdom (or so I like to think), said to me, “Hey, you should start a blog!”  HA!!  A busy, full-time working mommy, write a blog?  Who has time for that?  Apparently lots of people, as I found out when I cruised through the world-wide-web.  But who really cares what I have to say?  Who is going to read this?  My husband responded with, “Look, every time you post something on Facebook, you get a dozen responses.  I get nothing.  Clearly people read what you write and like what you say.  Start a blog.”  I scoffed at his confidence in me.  Then one day I posted one of my favorite sayings “I make milk.  What’s your superpower?”  The hubby, from this point forward known as “Papa Bear”, challenged me.  He said “If you get 12 responses in the next hour, you need to start a blog.  I’m telling you, SOMEONE will read it!”

I got 24 responses in about 15 minutes.

So here I am.

I can’t promise that I will be a faithful daily blogger.  I may not post the coolest tutorials, or best recipes.  My photography skills are merely mediocre.  But Here I am.  And here we are.  The adventures of Papa Bear, the Reporter, the Little Guy, and me.  As we go on and on and on with life. . .  I hope you will join us.
